Putting Dave's Experience to Work for North Andover
Dave Kres decided to run for Select Board because he believes he has developed the skills necessary to serve the citizens of North Andover and move the community towards to a bright tomorrow. Dave’s campaign theme is “Your Voice, Our Future.” Dave will use the experiences he’s gained from both his professional career and volunteer roles and apply them to the Select Board.
Dave has a tireless work ethic and has spent his career in advocating for those who need assistance. In his role on the Select Board, Dave wants to be open, hear all voices and then weigh all the factors to make the best decisions for the future of North Andover.
Dave is passionate about history. He wants to preserve North Andover’s past, but progress towards a future that benefits all North Andover residents.
Education
Dave graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2000 with double degrees in History and Political Science. He attended New England Law Boston and he earned his Juris Doctor (magna cum laude), graduating in the top 10% of his law school class in 2004.
He has been a licensed attorney in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 2004. Dave is a licensed real estate broker in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Professional Life
During and after college, Dave worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and taught special education. In law school, Dave was a volunteer Student Attorney for Shelter Legal Services, which assisted the homeless population, and at New England School of Law Clinical Law Offices, providing free legal representation to indigent clients. Dave also interned for Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee, an organization created to protect the legal rights of persons involved in mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Immediately after his admission ceremony into the Massachusetts bar, Dave started a private law practice in Haverhill, MA. He is now a partner at a small law firm, Rosa & Kres, LLP. Dave’s primary business is as co-owner/co-founder of Buyers Brokers Only, LLC, an exclusive buyer agency company, which is a real estate company that only represents homebuyers, never sellers, thus avoiding conflicts of interest common in the real estate industry.
In starting the company, Dave and his business partner, Rich Rosa, determined homebuyers were the demographic of consumers most in need of assistance, and created a company in which homebuyers could work with real estate agents that were 100% loyalty to their interests. Their company has grown to be the largest exclusive buyer agency real estate firm in New England and one of the largest in the United States.
In the real estate community, Dave has been an active leader. He has served on over 30 committees at local, state and national trade associations, chairing 15+ committees during his time. Dave has sat on the Board of Directors at the Massachusetts Association Realtors for 3 years and is a former President of the North Shore Association Realtors.
Personal Life
Dave was born in Lynn, MA, and lived in North Reading for his first two years. In 1980, his family moved to Peabody, where Dave lived until 2005 when he and his then fiancé moved into the Royal Crest Apartments in North Andover, MA.
Dave and his wife lived in Haverhill for six years, and purchased a home on Meadow Lane in North Andover in 2012. Dave’s wife of 19 years, Lauren, works as a pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Haverhill, MA.
Dave and Lauren have two boys, 13 years-old and 11 years-old, who both attended Atkinson K-5 and now are students at the North Andover Middle School.
Community
Dave has been active in the community, having coached youth soccer and Little League, as well as in leadership for Pack 89 Cub Scouts.
Since 2021, Dave has been a Board Director at the North Andover Historical Society. During that time, he has chaired the Nominating Committee and Executive Director Search Committee, and he has participated in numerous other committees. Dave currently as President of the North Andover Historical Society.
